Instalation & Fuel options
Torch heaters are available in both propane and natural gas. Simply select your preferred fuel type when ordering — each unit is built specifically for that configuration.
Propane
Propane is ideal for mobile, off-grid, and lake saunas. Each unit comes pre-configured with the proper valve, pilot, and orifice, allowing for direct connection to a propane tank — especially when paired with the optional hookup kit. A standard 100 lb tank can support regular use for extended periods, often covering daily sessions for up to a month. No electricity is required, making propane a highly versatile option.
Natural Gas
For fixed installations, natural gas provides a consistent, long-term fuel source. It’s a great fit for in-home or backyard saunas with an existing gas line.

Chimney piping must be purchased separately.

Do Torch Heaters require electricity?
Our Torch Gas Heaters do not use any electricity, except if you upgrade your control box to the remote start option. The remote start option does require electricity.
Can gas heaters be used in winter?
Yes! Torch heaters can heat your sauna all winter long. Just make sure your steam room is insulated properly to keep the heat in.
How much propane do the Torch stoves use?
The TS-60F burns 3 lbs or .71 gal per hour when the main burner is firing.
The TS-80F burns 4.2 lbs or 1 gal per hour when the main burner is firing.
Actual usage is usually less depending on the load and how often the heater cycles off.
What size propane tank should I use with the Torch sauna stove?
We recommend using a 100lb tank for the best results. If that isn’t possible in your application you can tee 2 - 40lb tanks together to supply the stove. Using too small of a tank will cause the tank pressure to drop too low.
What type of exhaust piping do I need?
Sauna heaters require Class A all fuel chimney pipe. Double wall black pipe can be used from the stove to the ceiling and then insulated chimney pipe must be used from the ceiling up. This pipe is commonly used for woodstoves.
Can I vent the exhaust out through the wall?
The TS-60F and TS-80F require a vertical termination above the roof to achieve a reliable draft.
Can the TS-60F or TS-80F be used in a mobile sauna?
Yes, They are both designed for mobile use and can be securely mounted to the floor.

Safety is our top priority
Torch gas sauna heaters are equipped with several different safety features:
- All Torch gas sauna heater models are equipped with a pilot and CSA approved gas valve to safely operate the stove’s burner. https://www.csagroup.org/ (CSA is similar to UL listing and is recognized in both the United States and Canada).
- All Torch gas sauna heaters are equipped with a 16 gauge heat shield to allow them to be placed closer to the wall.
- Built into the pilot is a thermopile that senses if the pilot is blown out. In this case, the valve will shut off all gas flow until the pilot is relit.
- The Torch gas heaters are equipped with a back draft sensor- the stove will shut down if the chimney gas starts to backdraft from strong winds or any other reason.
- With an over temp sensor built in, the gas sauna heater will temporarily pause heating if for any reason the outside of the heater is getting too hot.
- All Torch gas sauna heaters are also sold with a thermostat and timer control regulating room temperature and automatically shutting off after an hour of run time.
- Always read installation manual and owners manual before using.
